Skip Caray Passing

Long-time Braves broadcaster Skip Caray passed yesterday in his sleep after 33 years in the broadcast booth.  He wasn’t the best broadcaster at times, but he made summers very enjoyable.  When the Braves’ broadcasts were aired on TBS for many years, and before the Reds were on FSN Ohio regularly, Caray and others were the voice of my summertime baseball fix.  How can you not enjoy watching Smoltz, Glavine, and Maddux in their prime?

We as Reds fans know how hard it is to lose a long-time broadcaster and a familiar friend whom we come to know over the years. It is sad that we are starting to lose a generation of broadcasters who are sometimes our only link to the golden era of baseball, as well as those who actually think that the game is larger than themselves, instead of the other way around.
