Triple-A All-Star Game

As we look to fill a rather dreary night after Game 1 of the Reds-Mets series was postponed due to rain (they will make it up in a day-night double header starting at 1 and 8 PM Saturday) we look a bit ahead to the Triple-A All-Star Game to be played at Louisville Slugger Field on July 16th.  The International League will face off against the Pacific Coast League and will be aired live on ESPN2.

While we’ve never attended either a MLB or Triple-A All-Star game, we are rather excited to have this game and all the other festivities in our own backyard.  We plan on bringing you full coverage on the goings on around town as the MiLB mid-summer classic unfolds.

Some of the activities include a FanFest (we think similar to RedsFest) at the Kentucky International Convention Center which will have a whiffle ball field and displays on the history of minor league baseball, especially in Louisville (did you know that Honus Wagner started playing baseball in Louisville?), and a whole lot of things to do during the weekend. A home-run derby and the All-Star game itself will be played the following days.

Ticket sales have been brisk, but they are nowhere near sold out.   Packages for all three events ($52) can be purchased or you can get tickets for each individual event separately.

Since Louisville Slugger Field is a great place to see a baseball game (in our very biased opinion) we hope to be in attendance one way or another.  We may even be brazen enough to apply for a media credential.  We’ll see about that.
