Projected 2008 Lineup

The Cincinnati Post as put up a projected 2008 lineup for the Reds. I don’t know how long the link will work since on December 31 the afternoon newspaper will be closing down shop. C. Trent Rosecrans, the Reds beat writer, provided a lot of insight, analysis, and fun throughout the 2007 season on his running blog of the season. We hope that he has a successful career if he chooses not to stay in Cincinnati.

As far as the line-up is concerned, while I don’t necessarily like it, it is probably the most reasonable. Unless Jay Bruce tears up spring training, he will start in Triple-A (which will be nice since I can go and see him often). The bottom of the rotation with Belisle, Bailey and Maloney cause me a lot of concern. Maloney is more of a solid bullpen arm than a starter, even at the five spot. I expect Homer to be more consistent because of the nagging groin injury he sustained in Philadelphia last year. I want to see what he can do at the major league level at full strength. As a fan, I want Homer to be careful with his long-term health. He has the attitude of a very strong, cocky person and I don’t want him to go and hurt himself by thinking he can tough it out.
